CD Reviews

Brilliant Connelli

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Judi Connelli does not just sing in a rich expressive voice, she takes you on an emotional journey as well. I never imagined that 'At the Ballet' from 'A Chorus Line' could be transformed into such a moving and haunting ballard. Her rendition of Frank Loesser songs is brilliant. I would love to hear a fuller version of ' My Heart is so full of You. I also loved her version of 'A Real Nice Crowd' from Alan and Marilyn Bergman's much neglected and overlooked musical "Ballroom". Her medley of 'Married/ You'd better sit down kids/etc' is spine tingling. Her choice of Jerry Hermans 'Kiss her now' and 'I dont want to know' left me screaming for more. Surely there are/ must be more albums by this brilliant Australian cabaret singer. If you love cabaret you will love this album. Martin"
BRAVO, CONNELLI

"When it comes to the creme de la creme of international cabaret, the name of Judi Connelli is at the top with the likes of Andrea Marcovicci, and Michael Fienstein. This distinguished Australian artist has made far too few appearances in the United States and Europe. This CD, performed at Talk of the Town, in London provides a glimpse of the electricity and excitement this singer generates. I was priveleged to see her once in Sydney and am looking forward to an appearance in San Francisco. Among the highlights of this CD is a haunting and memorable rendition of 'At the Ballet' from A Chorus Line. The Medely of Frank Leosser songs is a refreshing reminder of this great American composer. The entire concept of this album is a complete listening experience, especially her interpretation of the Stephen Sondheim and Jerry Herman songs. Bravo and thank you,Judi Connelli."
