"This budget-priced CD encompasses all of Judy Garland's biggest movie hits from her years at M-G-M. Sound quality is fantastic and the cover art is particularly nice.Of course, we have "Over the Rainbow" from THE WIZARD OF OZ, as well as "The Trolley Song", "The Boy Next Door" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS.Added to this collection is "Get Happy", from her last completed M-G-M film SUMMER STOCK. Rarely had Judy sounded as sexy as she did in this slinky, jazzy number. From the Jerome Kern-biography TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY, is "Look For the Silver Lining". Garland gave a fabulous performance as 1930s star Marilyn Miller in this movie. The earliest track on this CD is the charming "Dear Mr. Gable/You Made Me Love You", which she introduced in the movie BROADWAY MELODY OF 1938. From THE HARVEY GIRLS (arguably Garland's best musical) is a highlight from "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe". There is also Garland's charming duet with Gene Kelly (the title tune from FOR ME AND MY GAL).Garland fans will love this great CD."

"This review refers to "Judy Garland - Over the Rainbow and Other Hits"(CD - Turner Records/flashback)
I have a secret. I play this album when I'm home alone and need a pick me up to get going. The secret is that I crank it up and sing along with Judy and enjoy every second of these 10 tracks from the classic films that we love. By the time I get to "The Easter Parade" I feel like I want to do a soft shoe. The tracks are from movies of the 30's 40's and early 50's. With music from Irving Berlin,Johnny Mercer, Jerome Kern and other greats of the era, Judy's voice - strong, soothing and oh so recognizable, it's an album that will be played over and over.
The tracks, which sound like they were recorded yesterday, include "Over the Rainbow"(Wizard of Oz 1939), "Get Happy"(Summer Stock 1950) - and you will GET HAPPY! - "The Boy Next Door"(Meet Me in St. Louis 1944), "Dear Mr. Gable/You Made Me Love You(Broadway Melody of 1938 - 1937),"Easter Parade" performed with Fred Astaire - an extra treat -(Easter Parade 1948),"On The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe(Harvey Girls 1945),"The Trolley Song" - with chorus (Meet Me in St Louis),"Look For the Silver Lining"(Till The Clouds Roll By 1946),"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"(Meet Me In St Louis) and "For Me and My Gal" (For Me and My Gal 1942)performed with Gene Kelly.
Even if you already have some of these Garland songs on other albums, I would say the mix of these feel good and nostalgic and sentimental songs are worth this very reasonably priced CD. The CD is an excellent quality recording, a brief bio is included and total running time is only about 35 minutes. I wish it was longer, but a short time well spent.
Find the Sunny Side of life with Judy...aw go ahead - sing along - I won't tell!....Laurie
