Worthwhile for the b-sides

"The second single from her "Hey Babe" album, "Forever Baby" combines three album tracks ("Forever Baby", "Nirvana", and leadoff single "Everybody Loves Me But You") with two additional tracks-- Dinosaur, Jr. cover "Raisans" (originally the b-side for the previous single) and another Hatfield-penned song, "Tamara".
I never quite understood picking "Forever Baby" as a single-- while "Everybody Loves Me..." is a fine jangly pop song, with a great hook, "Forever Baby" just struck me as significantly weaker, and indeed is overshadowed by the included album track "Nirvana", with its great loud-soft arrangement.
"Raisans" is a fantastic cover, washed in distorted guitar with Hatfield's girlish vocal mixed quietly, forcing you to really focus closely on her voice. "Tamara" is quite the opposite-- nicely arranged with clean-tone and distored guitars, a nice drum line, and a good vocal.
Invariably, both non-album tracks are worth having for any fan of Hatfield, but anyone else has no real need for this."
