Album Description"Many of the songs are long sonic journeys, taking in elements of Electric Prunes, Mike Oldfield, and especially Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd." -- SoundsXP.com Our Secret Ceremony, the fifth album by Julie's Haircut, features 15 tracks and 90 minutes worth of music. Available as a double CD set and a limited edition double LP, the new record is a further step in the evolution of the band's sound, which has become more open to the "collective" dimension given the number of musicians that took part in the sessions and the everchanging lineup of players. Musically, the record lives on the osmosis of different styles and approaches, from pop and electronica to psychedelia and experimentation--but never lacks coherence or unity. The first disc has a more classically orientated song structure, while the second part has a looser feel. Even those tracks with more conventional structures suggest immersions in the deepness of sound, and the long instrumental fugues always remain anchored to a solid harmonic and rhythmic structure. In a way, it's as if there are two basic aspects of the creative process living side by side: light and shadow, consciousness and unconsciousness, reality and dream.
