(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a delightful album from this classic singer/songwriter. With a piano as addictive as Carole King's and a voice that can reflect humor & reverence (or a mixture of both), Julie Gold may not rival Celine Dion in perfect pitch, but she's an unparalleled songwriter who writes amazingly catchy tunes that are sure to make you hit the repeat button. The opener "The Girl I Found" is about the catchiest little tune that's likely to be released this year. Julie's piano with producer Emily Bindiger on background vocals is guaranteed to put a smile on your face & set your toe tapping, "Hello hello hello my dear. It's nice to know that you are still here waiting for me, arms wide open; Do you love me? I'm sure hopin'!" Julie records a song from 1986 that has her own personal religious imagery and perspective, "He walks in the ghetto & the Holy Land. He walks through the garden & across the sand. And He walks beside my ally & my enemy." It's a delightful feel-good pop tune that is as catchy as it is uplifting. Rock classic Lesley Gore joins Julie on vocals for "When He Leaves." "Be God" is another joyful track urging God to be God and perform just a small little miracle. The CD concludes with "Thanks to You" that is a bit in the "Try Love" vein, a hook-filled piano-based jewel, "No mountain, no valley, no time, no space, no heart ache, no heart break, no fall from grace can stop me from believing that this love will see me through." In an era where cynicism passes for fashion, Julie Gold is a breath of fresh air. If you're blue, you can put her, Beth Nielsen Chapman & Carole King on the changer and cheer up! Wow!"
