To All the Friends That Laughed ...

"I'm writing this review in a sort of protest to a couple of friends who went through my eclectic c.d. collection and found this title in there. They scoffed and called this Julio Iglesias project a "chick disc". Of course their taste (or lack of in music) doesn't garner them any favorable awards for collecting c.d.s by the most memorable and widely popular artists either. To each his own ... What amazed me most about this 1984 album was how rich and sophisticated the instrumentation and orchestration sounded at a time when most pop music for the norm on top 40 stations was synthesized,new-wave, or rap.Gorgeous and melodious tracks like the Bambou Medley, Me Va Me Va, are so full of life and vibrancy that I can clearly see why Julio was able to make this not just a strong U.S. effort but a global smash. This cd has something for everyone...not just for the romantics. The sumptuous and dramatic verve of All Of You is strong and timeless. Moonlight Lady and the Air That I Breathe have an almost late 70's Barry Manilow pop-sensibility not to be laughed at but to do some serious listening to and possible toe tapping to...The only track I listen to with a grain of salt (or tongue-in-cheek sense of humor) is the duet with Willie Nelson,To All The Girls. The reason is that over the years the song has been parodied, prodded, and just downright treaded over by tacky talent shows and karaoke bars across the globe in every nationality..."

"I love this CD! Of course, I love Julio! This was romantic especially "Two Lovers"! Upbeat "Me Va Me Va" and great fun "Bambou Medley". I recommend this to all fans and new devotees!"
