"Confieso que en mi primera juventud no supe apreciar la musica del popular JJ, pero hoy, que tengo 30, comprendo que su estilo inconfundibilisimo sirve para inspirar cualquier jornada romantica, por insignificante que esta pueda ser. Este disco de exitos es una breve muestra de su estilo, nunca me agradaron las recopilaciones mucho, pues su sentido es meramente comercial, pero para el profano, este disco puede ser un buen comienzo. Recomiendo sombras."

"Julio Jaramillo was the master of this type of music...with his high, beautiful voice, so full of simplicity and sincerity. The predominantly acoustic guitar accompaniment is exquisite, and the melodies of these pasillos, boleros, and valses heavenly. "Niegalo Todo", "Un Disco Mas", and the first piece of music I was ever conscious of hearing as a child in Ecuador, "Sombras", are among the loveliest and most romantic.Unfortunately, not that many non-Latin people have heard this style of music, and it's one of the most basic, fascinating, and gorgeous of all. If you haven't heard Jaramillo, buy this...you're in for a treat. These songs must have been recorded approximately 25 years ago, but you'll forget their age as the beauty of them enfolds you."
