"This 23-song, 64-minute CD from England is valuable more for its historical perspectives than its quality. Recorded in Los Angeles in either 1945-46 or 1946-47, depending on which page of the insert you read, it features Stan Kenton's long-time vocalist with Kenton musicians Bob Cooper (whom June married), Kai Winding, Pete Rugulo, Buddy Cole, Dave Barbour, Eddie Safranski, Boots Mussulli and others. Her voice is tentative at times but rich at others on "How High the Moon," "Moonglow,", "I'm Thrilled," "September in the Rain," "Lover Man" and other tunes that she sang better in later years. If you're a committed Christy fan, get this. If you're not, pick one of her later and better efforts on Capitol."
