They have definetly made it blur...

"There are very high points on this cd, but the equal lows really leaves a bad impression on this cd.
My main complaint are the moments when they truly made their sound 'blur.' By 'blur' I mean that the sound makes your brain go blank because of the boredom or predictability. The first track is not even listenable, ad the most devasting moments are the Backstreet Boys-esque 'girl, where'd you go' moments. "Machine and the Line" has some really cool moments, but when the synth comes in, they stop sounding like a rock band and more like a computer generated band. I love high production value in an album, that is not my problem, but this doesn't even sound professionally produced. Synth used correctly is really great in this style of pop rock, Reggie and the Full Effect or The Postal Service have shown it has a place. "Your Shadow" will make you think of junior high love songs, and I don't think it is possible to think of that as a compliment.
"Swallowed" "Tempter" "Closer" & "A Taste" are really poppy, good Jimmy Eat World like rock songs. How good these songs are makes me even more bitter about the other half of the cd being so off."
