While the album "Police & Thieves" is rightfully heralded as a masterpiece thanks in part to Lee "Scratch" Perry's production and dub stylings, "Muggers in the Street" offers up some heavy riddims thanks to the Roots Radics. Recorded in 1984, the Radics are in their prime, and the heavy bass and drum coupled with Junior's falsetto voice is pure bliss. Like "Police & Thieves," the songs that comprise this collection are all socially conscience jams calling for peace and an end to violence. (FYI: the title track is a re-working of the classic Police & Thieves - a stripped down version that really lets the Roots Radics shine.) The album is a bit short in running time, but the production quality of this Greensleeves re-issue is golden and well worth a purchase. Enjoy!"
