"Prime Cuts: Jealous, Round the Clock Lovin', Hold MeOslin has never fit the Nashville cookie cutter. Unlike her Music Row peers, Oslin in her 40s, was never married and she was extremely outspoken. Yet when her debut CD "80s Ladies" won her accolades and hit records, it was indeed an eye opener."This Woman," her quintessential followup, continues her exploration of issues women in their middle ages faced. Though Oslin's music veers towards the country-pop edge, her attention paid towards details definitely makes this CD worthy of being treasured as one of country's finest CDs. Her number 1 single "Hold Me" is a prime example. "Hold Me" is a painful ballad sung from the perspective of a desperate wife trying to win back her husband's affections is simply heartbreaking. "Where's a Woman to Go," on the other hand, deals with the issue of loneliness faced by a woman at the end of her dating line. On the other hand, not all of Oslin's protagonists are victims of romance. The title cut is a strong woman's tribute, the type you would expect from Reba or Wynonna Judd. "Round the Clock Loving," formerly a minor hit for Gail Davies, finds Oslin insisting that she needs loving 24/7. Back by an infectious pop ountry melody, "Round" will get you humming in circles in no time. Though this CD has given Oslin some big hits, one of them that was not sent to radio is "Jealous." "Jealous" is a gorgeous big ballad sung with utmost conviction about being in a love triangle. This song is indeed Oslin at her finest. Same goes with the jazzy influenced "Truly Blue." The only complain I have is that this CD only contains 9 tracks. Though Oslin had a hand in co-writing or writing every track, maybe a couple more songs or even covers might make this CD even more enjoyable. Nevertheless, this CD is indeed worth getting if you are interested in songs that are thoughtful, reflective and sung with convictions ."
