Not quite ALL of the Greatest Hits

"Anyone who grew up in Hawaii in the 70's (as I did) knows who Kalapana is. For an all too brief time their music dominated the Hawaiian music scene. Now we have this collection of greatest hits. Unfortunately, the original line-up of Kalapana only put out two studio albums (although a revamped group released a reunion album some years later), so there is not much material to draw on. I found the choices to be unusual. To be sure, songs like "The Hurt" and "Moon and Stars" should be there, but what about "Juliette" and the jazz beauty "Black Sand"? And what about some of the other Kalapana songs, such as "Many Classic Moments" or "Girl"? In short, it's probably better to buy the back catalog than to rely on this CD."

"Twenty five years ago, This local band made music that the island embraced. Their first and second album are among the best recorded and most listen to. this collection of songs capture the true young sound of local talent. Try this cd Im sure youll find this sound fresh as it did in 1975 When growing up on the islands, cutting class to the north shore for some waves, playing guitar with your buddies, just the few memories that come from living there , or just to hear something fresh and new... ALOHA TO YOU BABY BOOMERS,"
