"Karen Mason is one my very favorite female vocalists. She has a laser-beam intensity that cuts right through to the heart of a song. She's just plain exquisite. I also wrote an Amazon review for Tom Michael's "Written in the Stars" CD, and it made me realize -- since I found myself thinking of similar terms to describe each of them -- how close both of these exceptional artists are in talent and approach. If you like Mason, be sure to listen to Michael's CD.But back to this particular one. Mason chose to sing the lovely songs on this CD as a labor of love, and it shows. I can't think of a better tribute to their late composer, Brian Lasser. Even after listening to this CD many, many times in the past decade, I still get a lump in my throat by the end.And by the way, if you haven't already done so, be sure to also obtain Mason's extraordinary debut album, "Not So Simply Broadway." You won't be sorry."
My favorite cabaret CD of all time

"If someone asked me what CD I had listened to more than any other CD I had ever owned, it would be "Better Days" by Karen Mason. Karen has always been one of my favorite singers, and to hear her do this wonderful collection of Brian Lasser tunes...well, it doesn't get anmy better than this. I only wish Karen would record more."
Overly Polished Album Destroys Mason's Wonderful Voice
"The selection of songs are emotionless and does not show the true vocal quality that Karen possesses. "Hello, Tom" lacks the feeling that it originally had and void of powerful emotion. The two songs that save this album are "I Haven't Got Time" and "Better Days". Even an album of dediction requires a better performance than simply singing second rate songs of Brian Lasser only. I would skip this one and hope Karen comes out with more comtempory songs and really shows what her voice is made of. It rivals that of a Goddess and should have been shown here."
Incredibly touching

"I love this album! So much sensitivity, soul, pain, hope, yearning, and love come through with each song. Karen's voice, Brian's music, and all the other artists' gifts come together perfectly. I never tire of this or any other of Karen's CDs. Please keep making this stuff for us who want to be inspired and touched."

"I love Karen Mason's voice. She is very musical and has such style. Hers is just a voice that you want to listen to, it makes your ear bend. This album is no exception. Brian Lasser's songs are sung by a woman who obviously admired and love him and his work."
