Synopsis

Album Description
Compelling, original, and inspirational, these performances were all featured on NBC's Today Show as part of their "Everyone Has a Story" weekly series. For the series, individuals submit a personal story to the Today Show and a panel of judges, including Gifford and her writing partner David Friedman, chooses the best essay to write a brand-new song for. Every week a winner's story is read on the air, and a Broadway singer performs the corresponding song. This disc features Kathie Lee Gifford, co-host of the Today Show. Gifford received 11 Emmy Award nominations during her 15-year run on the television talk show Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, which she co-hosted with Regis Philbin. "I loved hearing Kathie Lee's newest CD. It is impeccably and beautifully sung. Her talent and love of singing shine through." -- Michael Feinstein "This is a terrific collection of new songs, sung from the heart. I love it!" -- John McDaniel "Kathie Lee doesn't just sing a song, she really tells a story. Her voice is assured, her phrasing so very tasteful." -- Marvin Hamlisch

CD Reviews

Yikes!
Mitch Brenner | 06/22/2009
(1 out of 5 stars)

"As a musical theatre geek, I was expecting to find this Kathy Lee-conceived project to be a littel gem what with David Friedman as composer and a boat-full of well-respected musical theatre performers. The end-product proves to be a sad disappointment. I know these are true stories set to music but the whole thing comes off as trite and cliche. "Orchestrations" are heavily synthesized which gives the recording a cheap sound. Everyone on this disc deserves far better."
