Amazon.com Kathy Troccoli will always be known as one of the founding members of the contemporary Christian music (CCM) movement, even though she's added the titles of author and inspirational speaker along the way. After a long absence from the charts, Troccoli teamed up with songwriter Nathan DiGesare in 1998 to release the superb Corner of Eden, yielding top hits "Psalm 23" and "Different Road." She's back again with chum DiGesare, and the result is more accessible, radio-friendly tracks bound to reaffirm Troccoli's stature in CCM. Listeners will experience a balance of tempo on The Heart of Me, with the upbeat "Take Me Higher" and peppy "Just Like You" offset by slower, heartfelt ballads like "He Will Shelter You" and "All for the Life of Me." Fast or slow, Troccoli masters the pace while showcasing her classically trained voice. One almost gets the sense that her pop stylings on Heart stifle her instrument. This cd is the same. As she sings these personal songs of relationship to God it speaks to your heart. I especially relate to the song "You're Still God"." Kathy is heart felt and honest and delivers this album in a very simple, straight-forward way. The stand-outs are the wonderful ballads, "He Will Shelter You" and "All For The Life Of Me", and the up tempo modern pop tune "Take Me Higher". Kathy's voice is superb, and you can feel that she is singing from the heart. I orginally started listening to Kathy because of how much I love her voice. I now listen to Kathy not only because of her voice, but because of the message. The only problem with this CD is that there are ONLY 10 songs, because it leaves you wanting more. However, I have bought many CDs by other artists only to find 5 or 6 stand-out songs out of 13 or 15. With Kathy you get the best, and as with her last album, although the CD only has 10 songs, they are the best and you will not find yourself fast forwarding past any of them along the way."
