CD ReviewsWOW!!!!! You Go Girl!!!! 03/02/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I am from Memphis and saw Katrice perform at the Naras showcase. I was baffled at her energy and stage presence. She opened the show with a bang that no one else could follow. She had 2 dancers who were just as energetic and captivating. I noticed the perfect harmony of her 2 background singers as well. How can they keep smiling and still sing like that? She performed the title track Anytime first, which grabbed the audiences attention. She sang Cold Busted next which hyped the crowd up. Her soulful voice is just as potent on an upbeat song and she danced some difficult choreographed moves. She closed the show with How And Why. Half-way through this song the front row was on their feet. It seemed as if Katrice and her singers & dancers got more excited about their performance as it went along, and I could tell they were up there having fun. She ended the show with humble words of appreciation, but the crowd cheered & still wanted more. About a third of the audience left after her performance. I immediately went out and bought her CD. My friends are digging her too from hearing it at my house. I know Katrice will be a star one day soon. She is a southern girl with big dreams and I know she'll make it. To those of you who are reading this, if you like soulful hiphop and can appreciate the talents of a young artist, listen to the CD. Just go into a record store and ask if you can hear it first. Her sound takes you back to Aretha Franklin, the energy of Patti Labelle, and the trendiness of Missy Elliot. I play it frequently at my house parties and my friends and family of all ages can groove to it. (You should hear my neice singing Cold Busted!) I beleive in supporting good talent and voicing my appreciation of it. So check out Katrice and let's wish her luck and a record deal!!!!" Sounds Like A Star Is Born Bill Ellis | Memphis, TN | 11/27/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "It's amazing what a year can do. Katrice, who showed plenty of raw talent at 1999's Urban Night showcase on Beale Street, fulfills her promise with "Anytime" a major league debut that should make her the next funky diva from Memphis. Cut mostly at Royal Recording with a diverse trio of producers --Willie Mitchell's grandson Archie Mitchell, Ken Hardin and horn pro Lannie McMillan -- Katrice's independent album is as good as anything on the urban charts right now. HOW & WHY is a fantastic opener, one with fresh hooks and a radio ready arrangement that puts Bluff City soul in the house once again. Katrice, whose voice is drenched in gospel phrasing, handles ballads and uptempo tunes with equal aplomb; on HATERS, she raps with the sassy confidence of Missy 'Misdemeanor' Elliott. Katrice is no melisma queen (one Whitney Houston has always been enough); rather, the 20-something vocalist milks the melody of a song, which is why you'll keep coming back to standout numbers COLD BUSTED, ANYTIME and DON'T GIVE ME FOREVER, a slice of classic, Muscle Shoals-style soul co-written by McMillan and Katrice. Need more proof of her honest-to-goodness talent? Here is a singer whose compositional hand went into every track (she solely wrote the majority). Where so many indie soul records miss the mark in one way or another --production, songwriting, packaging-- Katrice has a winner on all counts. And she can handle any style thrown at her. Sounds like a star is born. Bill Ellis THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL MEMPHIS"
