"As a serious collector of electronic, world, and new age music (before it was ever called that), I discovered Keiko Matsui only recently, while updating my jazz collection (next to Mingus). Keiko is a classically-trained pianist whose original compositions have been categorized as light jazz, but her precision, creativity, subtlety, and conviction belie that label. She has immediately joined my short list of favorite artists and heros. This album, by her husband and producer, reveals the deep spirituality behind her commercial success.Familiar Mozart piano pieces (on real piano) are set into the context of atmospheric synthesizers and the results are profound, amusing, and breathtaking. "Amadeus in the Mist" is a standout and deserves to be a modern classic. I also appreciate this album for having a more consistently mellow tone throughout than is found on Keiko's albums."
