An underrated CD with Jarrett playing piano, organ and sax.

"The Moth and the Flame is one of Keith Jarrett's underappreciated efforts. Part One of the CD contains Jarrett's organ and sax work. The music is somewhat dark in mood and recalls an earlier album, "Hymns/Spheres". Part Two is a studio recording of one of his extended piano improvisations. Like most ECM disks, the recording quality is pristine. Part Two has more of a classical feel to it than many of his solo concerts. In style and recording quality the album would compare favorably to "Staircase." In my opinion, "Staircase" is Jarrett's strongest effort and this album is not far behind."
