"Keller William's music has always been infused with Americana. That written, "Grass" is his first project to focus on bluegrass. Here, Keller plays no loops and employs none of his typical brand of digital madness. This is a stripped down, acoustic fun run through some great songs. While the originals are great, the cover songs shine. Who could have imagined a bluegrass version of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick in the Wall?' Keller and the Keels do it in style. Deadheads will relish 'Loser' and 'Dupree's Diamond Blues.' 'Loser' is more than it appears. It is actually Beck's 'Loser' into the Grateful Dead's version, back into the Beck song. 'I'm Just Here To Get My Baby Out Of Jail' is a welcome standard. As Keller's band, Larry and Jenny Keel do a wonderful job on the upright bass and guitar. The one drawback to this gem is the length: it's only forty-six minutes. I had the pleasure of seeing the band live and I can write that this studio release captures much of the live magic. "Grass" is a welcome addition to any jamgrass collection."
