Singer Ken Greves and Jazz Cat Productions are proud to announce the release of Ken s debut CD, The Face Of My Love. Working with a talented-beyond-their-years trio consisting of drummer Jakob Melchior, bassist Tom Hubbard, and pianist/ musical director Wells Hanley, Ken offers very personal takes on songs by Strayhorn, Arlen, Mercer, Kern, and other masters of the American song. It starts and ends with a dream and in between is a story as old as time, yet as fresh as tomorrow. Love sought, love found, love doubted, love lost told in a cycle of song, reminiscent of the classic albums of the past. And yet the sound is as modern as the latest jazz releases. This bringing together of worlds is especially embodied by a new collaboration between Billy Strayhorn and Elvis Costello called My Flame Burns Blue (formerly Blood Count) in one of its first recordings. Trained as a dancer and actor as well, Ken breathes new life into the most familiar of standards with his attention to dramatic detail. His extensive experience in both theater and cabaret allows his love of the Great American Songbook to shine throughout the recording.
