"Kenny Baker excels in playing the melody - an oft underated skill. He has more of an 'old-time' feel than most Bluegrass fiddlers today, and consequently, his readings of Bill Monroe and traditional tunes are unique and extremely soulful. This album features many great recordings, including 'Flopareno', and 'Cross-Eyed Fiddler'. Kenny's playing is sprightly, melodic, rhythmic, and these recordings capture him in his prime. A superb disc."
