"OK . . . Kenny Rogers isn't Natalie Cole or Linda Ronstead. But the songs he's chosen for this album are beautifully matched to his voice and style. This one gets played at least once a week at our house."
Album lesser known, but excellent just the same

"David Foster has worked with almost every big name to create that stylized, incredible orchestral sound surrounding a strong vocal performer: Kenny happens to be one of those on this album.
Mr. Foster is the best at producing this style of music today, and this album is one of those that escaped media attention but is equally as good as those David created by Michael Buble, Josh Groban and the like. The orchestrations are excellent (thank you Jeremy Lubbock and David Foster), and remind you of a time when music was great, not just ordinary and alike. The songs are classic and well-crafted, and David Foster lets Kenny do what he does best: sing the song. Kenny's voice sounds great; he's one of the best with ballads. Though Kenny may not be known for being able to sing this style of music, David Foster (as producer and arranger) has helped create an album worth purchasing. No one is better at creating this type of sound for an artist than Mr. Foster, and Kenny's voice embodies this music beautifully. There is no finer producer working in this genre today, though many try and do okay with it. This is an excellent example of a credible producer working with a credible vocalist with material that is among the finest out there. Produced at a time when Kenny's career was at a bit of a standstill, this album should have brought his name back into the spotlight more in the "pop" arena; I'm surprised it was not as big of a success as those that have come after him.
This album is a find, and I recommend it to anyone who likes gorgeous orchestrations with excellent vocals on songs that surpass the test of time. If you like songs that are sung rather than those that are ranted or spoken, this album is an excellent add to any collection."
