Doo Wop In Its Purest Form
02/16/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Heard the title track on a N.Y. oldies station 18 months ago and was absolutely floored! Took me 9 months to find the CD (pre-internet days) but the search was worth it! Growing up in Brooklyn N.Y. during the doo wop era, I know the H. S. they sing about and what every street corner group was doing to be heard. The lyrics recreate those moments exactly! Another great track is "Your Way". It captures the simple essence of slow doo wop singing the way it was done back then. Even the "cover" songs are handled beautifully, with slightly different arrangements to make them fresh again. Kenny's voice may not be as powerful as Jay Black's, but his style and back-up group do a masterful job on all tracks. A great addition to any doo wop afficianados collection. You'll be playing this one over and over for some time to come!"
TOP OF THE CHARTS ALBUM...
08/24/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am a collector of all oldies and doo wop music. When Kenny sings his track, Looking for an echo, it will bring you back to the old days, when music was for real. I can sit and listen to these songs over and over. Growing up in Brooklyn and reminiscing brings back unreplacable times and memories. No oldies fan should be without this c.d., in their collection."
DOO-WOP NEVER BETTER!
Joe Belvedere | Brooklyn, New York United States | 11/25/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Having grown up to the classic harmonies of the 50's and early 60's doo-wop, this album is an absolute revelation! Every time I listen to it, I am taken back in time. The interpretations of this fantastic group of these songs is unbelievably smooth. Kenny Vance has one of the finest voices I have ever heard--melodic, silky and powerful. His falsetto is amazing. No group was better--back then or now. As simple as the song "Looking For An Echo" is, to me, it is the epitome of the genre. If you love doo-wopp, buy this album. It will quickly become a favorite!"
