CD ReviewsA subpar release for this otherwise great artist Thomas Tosh | Marietta, GA USA | 06/12/2002 (3 out of 5 stars) "Back in early June, I pretty much panned this CD. I'm updating my review after giving it several more weeks. (As though the fact that it took that much time for some of the songs to grow on me isn't an indicator.)I like Garbi's voice and arrangements on her previous recordings so much that I felt it was worth the effort. (As anybody who's ever heard the song "Perasmena Xasmena" or "Tha mas Horisoune Agapi mou" will attest.) At this time all I can say is that there are a FEW very good songs among all too many mediocre ones. It's for those good songs that I've raised my rating from 2 to 3 stars. When I gave CD-1 its first listen back in May, I was very surprised not to find a single song that I wanted to hear again. This is not the case with most of Garbi's previous CDs. Usually, many of her songs hook me right from the beginning. Not this time. After giving the CD several months now, the songs among the 18 on CD-1 that rise above the ho-hum are:Song 1 -- Apla ta Pragmata Song 3 -- Kragion Song 5 -- Esy Tha Kasies (just ok) Song 6 -- San ton Ekthro Song 7 -- Pes to (Xana) M'ena Fili Song 12 -- Afto Pou Zisame (IMO, the best song on CD-1) Song 13 -- To Sabbatokyriako sou Song 18 -- You and Me You and I Of the 13 songs on CD-2, the best are:Song 1 -- Den Eipa Psemata Pote (Mono gia sena) Song 2 -- Sto Skonismeno sou Amaxi (the very best song on the set) Song 5 -- Thelo na se Vlepo Song 7 -- Moni mou Song 9 -- Stakti Song 11 -- StigmesUnlike "To Kati" -- which must have really spoiled me since every song on it is good -- this CD set has just too many throwaway songs. Here's hoping for a better release from her next time." Excellent Double Release from Katy Garbi Jack Gardner | Randolph, NJ USA | 04/23/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "A great album - well worth the money - 2 CD's around 120 minutes of music and 31 songs from this greek temptress/songstress. A must for Greek music fans. Every thing from her usual folk music influenced rock and roll title track to the slightly disco You and Me You and I - Even if you don't understand Greek - Katy's singing will make you want to dance."
