Why doesn't Kevin Max get more attention?

"If it weren't for getting this album free, I would never have listened to it. This album has caused me to buy his other solo albums.



What this album isn't: Trite, christianese, marketable, fluff. that's exactly why it's an incredible album.



What CCM lacks these days is creativity. Kevin Max has this and more. At times one might think he's trying too hard to showcase his creativity, but you cannot argue with the finished product.



From start to finish we're bombarded with tracks that defy your initial expectations, taking the listener from one end of the musical spectrum to the other. I have no idea what the original songs sound like, but I do enjoy KM's take on them nonetheless.



We need more fearless artists such as this in the Christian music industry. Perhaps then we won't have as much junk as we do."

Suprised- really good album

"I'm not going to lie, Kevin Max's voice usually REALLY bugs me, because he has more ornaments than a christmas tree. I'm not even sure why I decided to listen to this CD in the first place, but I was incredibly surprised.



What Kevin Max has managed to create in this album is a rare collection of tastefully arranged old hymns. He really did have quite a few people join him on it, but I don't see that as a problem, as some people seem to think.



Definitely check out "People Get Ready," which was probably my favorite track off the whole CD. "Run on for a Long Time" was also very good.



As for the comparison to Johnny Cash, I will completely agree. But I still don't understand why that's a bad thing. Johnny Cash was amazing, and in my opinion, more people could afford to mimic him."

"Very good CD. This is well done and is obviously a tribute of sorts to Johnny Cash right down to the publicity pics of Max in "Black." Now I will disagree with the poster that rips on Vince Gill and Amy Grant. Vince is a Country Music Hall of Famer and one of the most respected musicians in Nashville. He is also up for a few Grammy's this year so somebody "remembers" him. And Grant is Grant. She is legend in the CCM world so..."Up Above My Head..." would have been right at home on Grant's very popular Hymns projects from a few years back.



The music is incredible. Even marginal American Idol Chris Sligh shines on the Blind Boys cover. The duet with Cash's sister is a great country song. Rugged cross reminds me of my grandfather signing it. It is church.



Max made no secrets as to what he was doing and offered samples on his site and his myspace site.



The DC Talk song is probably the most out of place song on the disc. It really just doesn't fit in that being said it is marvelous and probably won't but should be embraced by CCM radio. It is the best of the post break up DC Talk reunion songs ("Let's Roll", "Atmoshpere" and "40" if there are others I don't recall them)."
