Album DescriptionThe second in a series of song cycles, "Squall" continues Kevin McCormick's musical and lyrical explorations begun on "With the Coming of Evening" (1993 Mirabilis Records). The album guides the listener through the eerie calm of "gathering clouds" to the near silence of "arroyo" to the explosive title track and concludes with the strangely uplifting "Heritage." For this ambitious recording, McCormick enlisted an array of instrumentalists to form an ensemble including oboes, horns, strings, and piano along with the core rock unit. The amazing shakuhachi work of Shiku Yano appears once again on the title cut. This is not a collection of singles, but a work as a whole. Music that moves, haunts and inspires.
