"It seems the US is incapable of appreciating its homegrown dance ambassadors, if Amazon's local availability of Kevin Yost's work is typical. "One Starry Night" is beautiful, blissful downtempo dance music (if that's not a contradiction), and the bonus disc features some very good remixes of the title track and single "If She Only Knew". Highly recommended."
Way deep, photonic, mellow, oblique

"Not a mix, but a fine, fine collection of Kevin's grooves showcasing his inimitable style and taste. As in his other recordings, this one also features some really jazzy acoustic guitar and saxaphone tracks over some of the bounciest basslines. Did I say bouncy? Yes, but it's not to be construed to mean boppy. They're are laid back but alert, keeping the tempo as much as guiding the rhythm. Kevin says he's from a small town. He would have grown up being able to see stars at night. Maybe that's why he titled this one "On a Starry Night". And how appropriately! Listening to this CD will make you feel like you're lying on dry plush grass on a summer night, under a cloudless sky, with breeze in your hair, stars twinkling from afar..."
Listen and trip
