Kevyn stands on the edge with this CD. I get the feeling she is just about to "get it". Don't get me wrong. It's a good CD. Not your classic latin-jazz-Brazilian music CD. This is more like an Americanized pop-rock version (ala) Sergio of the 70s which was good mind you. The purest may be a bit put off, but relax, it's only music. Sit back and enjoy it for the beauty that it is...and it is beauty! (She's not bad looking either, I might add). Sometimes I wish she would just "sing" and not get so hung up in whatever the other stuff is that seems to prevent her from "letting it all hang out". Anyhow, that's my story and I'm stickin to it!

What a Find!

"I first saw an add for one of Kevyn's newer releases in Downbeat (never heard of her). It must be jazz if it's in Downbeat, right? Well, I went to Amazon and started searching and listening. I noticed a used copy of this older disc for a modest price and ordered it. It took 3-4 listens, as really good music often does, for me to fall in love with this set. I since have purchased 3 other CDs by Kevyn and found that none lived up to this one. Kevyn's voice is great and full of energy, the arrangements are simply cool and a joy to listen to. Since I'm mainly into jazz, I don't concentrate much on the lyrics, because her voice and how she uses it commands most of my attention--this lady obviously loves to sing. Now some wouldn't really call this a jazz set, but it is jazzy pop music of the highest caliber. The arrangement and some surprize shifts of melody on Morning Kisses grab me every time. The fast-paced You Don't Love Me Like You Used To is addictive, and her smooth version of James Taylor's Shower the People is a very nice ending to a great CD. I plan to listen to those other 3 CDs in the hopes they will grow on me like this one has. Thanks Kevyn, you nailed this set."
An absolutely delightful recording!

"When was the last time you were delighted with a "new" find? Kevyn Lattau sings like an angel, and she is accompanied by some of the finest jazz performers it has been my pleasure to hear in quite some time. I'm embarrased to admit that I only became aware of her music when I bought a cut-out $1.99 cassette of various artists. It included Kevyn's "Morning Kisses", and after hearing that track, I was hooked. Thanks to Amazon, I now have all 3 cd's. I'm now waiting to find out if she ever tours, and since I live in the Las Vegas area, I'm hopeful that eventually I'll get to see a live performance. Give this CD a listen - you won't be disappointed!!!"
Another great CD with Brazilian influence

"Kevyn performs great on a set of songs influenced heavily on the Brazilian side:
1. Another Season (a.k.a. "Mangueira' originally written by Brazilian guitarist/singer Kleber Jorge, and here with English lyrics by Kevyn).
6. Ella (a.k.a. "Jogo de Cintura" originally written by Brazilian maestro Dori Caymmi, and here with English lyrics by Kevyn).
8. You Don't Love me Like You Used To (great batucada rhythm...)
9. Colors of Joy (Original of Dori Caymmi)
10. Retrato en Branco e Preto (original of Antonio Carlos Jobim).
A great CD; worth collecting if you're a fan of Lettau and/or of Brazilian Jazz
