Excellent value, mainly excellent performances

"As usual with Brilliant Classics, this set offers great value for the money. All of these performances were peformed on the harpsichord by a variety of excellent musicisions.



Many of the peformances are some of the best I've heard: th Goldberg Variations,Partitas, and French and English Suites in particular. The performances of the two books of the Well-Tempered Clavier are good, but they do not compete with many other performances of these works.



The lesser known works (the three discs of 1700-1710 compositions) are interesting, but one probably will not return to them as much as all of the Bach classic masterworks included in this set.



Recording quality is excellent: the harpsichords are closely miked, but natural sounding and not strident or "clanking".



CDs are packaged in attractive, sturdy cardboard sleeves which saves shelf space, and the set includes informative liner notes.
