Synopsis

Album Description
"klosure. Disposable Klassix and Other Potential Failures (1988-1998)", by Kommunion recording artist, Khanoda (Kah-nah-da), is an unconventional "greatest hits" compilation that retraces the past ten years of this little-known singer and songwriter. From modest success overseas in 1988 with his first single "Do What You Feel", to the notable yet unnoticed trio of singles released from his obscure 1994 indie album, "Lessons Learned On Leithgow St." A veteran of independent music; Khanoda initially arrived in 1988 as a dance artist, before making the leap into more introspective songwriting in the early nineties. With the release of his second album in 1994 titled "Lessons Learned On Leithgow St.", Khanoda took a more veracious approach towards his music lyrically, while keeping his pop sensibility intact. After several years of hardships--including the loss of his producer and friend Larry Murray--Khanoda reemerges from almost a four year absence to release "klosure."; a tongue in cheek retrospect, making light of the proverbial greatest hits collections of years end, and of his own "failed accomplishments". Closing out this collection are two newly recorded tracks, "Twister/Farley Pinapple" and "Slowly".

CD Reviews

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is pertinent to the completion of anyone's music collection. It is so unfortunate that this artist is so overlooked by the mainstream industry. You can hear his many influences from david bowie to the smiths, even his hypnotic dance tracks really get you moving. I recommend this album to anyone who has taste."
Misery never sounded so good...

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Dark, atmospheric, funky, raw, pop-like, blistering, compelling, emotionally draining, ironic, sexy, silly, inspiring, brutally honest, captivating. Perfect. Klosure, Disposable Klassix and Other Potential Failures (1988-1998), by Khanoda, is an unconventional retrospect by an artist who--in ten years--was never sought out for pop stardom, but sure had the talent to be big (or at least a cult figure on the alternative music scene). An incredible lyricist, especially on songs like "Frigid", "Twister", "If You Kiss Me" and the techno driven "Slowly". The latter track putting electronic novice like U2 and Madonna to shame. I never heard of Khanoda until last year, when a friend played me his album. I've been hooked ever since. This is what the 90's should've sounded like. This guy should have been given his props."
