Good for collectors...

""Seeing Red" was the second single off Killing Joke's 2003 self-titled album. The single, which I remember being remarkably hard to find when it came out, presents four mixes of the song, an abbreviated single edit, the album version, and a remix by Jagz Kooner, presented both with and without vocals.
The track itself is pretty much par for the course for the '03 record-- it's a fierce slice of energy, aggressive and powerful, with a driving guitar riff and a pulsing bassline. The remix strips out the guitars from the verses (and subdues them on the chorus), replaces the drums with a programmed loop, and adds some oddball synths and electronica noises. It's a decent enough mix and the focus on the bassline really benefits the verses, but it's overlong (clocking in around 7:30) and isn't exactly essential. And doubling this up with the same thing but only in an instrumental mix is kind of pointless.
Bottom line-- this is a nice enough single, but it's something only collectors are going to want."
