One of Kimball's Finest

"This is a phenomenal CD from start to finish. Kimball has chosen tracks that are mostly progressive, but not of the thin, dark and repetitive type that seem to be the current trend amongst DJs. Don't listen to this album and try to compare it to some of his trance mixes like Club Nights Vol. 2 as surely you will be left confused and disappointed. He has taken more of a lateral move with this album and has succeeded."End of the Road" by L-Vee opens the album with its ethereal guitar licks and epic trance sound. I knew I wouldn't be let down since "Feeling You" by Indoctrinate (aka L-Vee) on Club Nights Vol. 2. was such a great track. The dreamy Mr. Sam mix of Delerium's "Innocente" follows as another superb track that doesn't get too repetitive. I get chills everytime I hear that first "darling..."."Planisphere" by Ozone is an interesting track as it has no dominant bassline. This doesn't detract from it much as it is intelligently arranged and builds up to a great finish."You and Me" by Blue Screen is definitely the pinnacle of the album. Its awesome sounding bassline, percussion and strings are slowly built up the entire track where in the middle it breaks down a little and then explodes into a great energetic ending. The most progressive sounding track is KC's own "Music is Life". This track has been superbly produced, however, is a bit too dry and anti-melodic for my tastes. The only redeeming thing in this track is the choir part halfway through, which, unfortunately seems a bit out of place."Island" by Orinoko is, well, what can I say... funky? It has a disco type feel to it and is a great way to end the album- on a different note. This album comes second only to his lesser known promo album Effective, which, if you can get your hands on, is quite a rare gem. I highly recommend "Music Is Life" to all Kimball Collins fans. This is definitely where I'd like to see techno going- back down the avenue of melody as opposed to sound production."
How Did I Miss This?

"I had never heard of Collins before I saw it on Amazon. As I write this, it is 2004 and I have bought as many of his CDs as could get; this one is the first I have opened. I loved it, frankly. It is certainly worthy of good comparison with some of the best of Oakenfold's work or Van Dyk's. It is in the same vein and well worth playing again and again. I found myself playing it all day... over and over. BUT WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD OF HIM BEFORE NOW? Thanks, Amazon! That listening station is a great idea; it's how I found this. I might have missed him entirely, as I can't find anything of his in the stores."
Incredible trance journey

"Track 1 is a nice start, but tame compared to tracks 2 thru 6.
Tracks 2 thru are 6 are truly epic trance music. They represent the best string of trance tracks I have ever heard. This CD does not get old and it will really pump you up for a night out. The other tracks are OK, towards the end the CD gets stronger again, but purely on the basis of # 2-6 this CD gets 5 stars. I stopped listening to techno music for about 4 or 5 years but this CD got me hooked on it again."
