"Here's my two cents worth on "Thrak". I once owned the original version when it first came out, & have been a fan since the mid 70's, so I've been into every possible version of Crimson before or since. I admired Thrak from the beginning, although felt something wasn't quite right. I later read in a magazine how they recorded each persons tracks separately with each player isolated in their own booth without being able to see each other, although through monitors and/or headphones could hear each other. I always attributed this as the problem with Thrak. I also got rid of my early 90's Caroline Crimson CD's for the same reason, I just didn't think they sounded all that great. My brother-inlaw begs to differ. He will not upgrade w/the change in technology. Fast forward to 2005. In August, I received the Power to Believe in the mail & wow am I a believer again. I then ran out & bought Vroom, Vroom Live after reading about the KC Collectors Club releases. These CD's haven't left my disc player since. I've seen the 30th Anniv. Thrak LP style cover around town, so I picked up a copy to match my Discipline LP Made in Holland disc & once again "wow" it's like hearing it for the first time, only 100 times better. I've since gotten the new Starless & Bible Black & Red HDCD's & can't wait for Lark's Tongue in Sept. I can't thank DGM & Fripp enough for these remasters. My birthday is Sept. 6th, so next up is Nightwatch, B'Boom, the Eyes Wide Open DVD, Heavy ConstruKction, etc."

"The first post 70's album with the old sturm und drang. Don't kid yourself. Red is the heart of King Cristendom with 2 near misses on either side. This is the first album that comes close. Take it from an old hippie."
What is this chaotic noise?

"I had never listened to the double trio incarnation of Crimso; now I only wish they had been able to sustain the tension for a couple more albums. This is a study in fury with uncanny control and restraint. A Crimson sound that has the darkest side of Schizoid Man and the airy atmospherics of the 80's trilogy, but both extremes heavily updated. I don't think this is a good starting point if you are curious about the Crimson King. Try Red or Discipline first. It takes a few listens to start "getting it.""
