CD ReviewsThe 90's were a BAAAAD time for film music M. Zembrowski | Milwaukee, WI | 04/15/2009 (2 out of 5 stars) "Boy, oh boy. As a listener who's found incalculable joy in the film scores of Trevor Jones, I must say I was excited to find this soundtrack on Amazon. Without seeing the movie, I purchased the CD based solely on Mr. Jones' track record as a fine film composer. Well, in this case, I almost wish I would have seen the movie on HBO or something to know just what I was getting when I got this CD. As per the title of this review, it must have been awful, having to score movies in the 90's. Even fine composers like Jerry Goldsmith and Hans Zimmer were forced to bow to the demands of the producers who wanted a heavy, dull, droning sound with screeching electric guitars and cheesy electronic beats. I should have known that's what I would be getting here. Trevor Jones writes, bar none, the best film music action sequences of anybody in the business, and there isn't one shred of it here. This movie, it's soundtrack, and it's star David Caruso, should have stayed buried in the 1990's Movie Purgatory and never been allowed to escape. Note: This review only covers the score by Trevor Jones. I wasn't about to waste my time and listen to the "songs" at the beginning of the CD."
