"Kiss Of The Gypsy just came along at the wrong time. I saw them open for Tesla in Manchester, England in late 1991. They were incredible. I've seen a lot of bands and they were one of the best. This album is a masterpiece. Not in the slightest bit original. Just good old fashioned R&R with lots of guitars, classic riffs, and a thumping rhythmn section. "Blind For Love", "Easy Does It", "From The Dirt", "Keep Your Distance" will have you abusing your air guitar. "No Prize For The Loser" is a beautiful ballad and "Promised Land" just rips your heart out to close proceedings. If you are sick of some of today's so called "rock", get your hands on this bad boy and lose yourself for ten songs of pure rock and roll bliss. Perfection!"

Worth tracking down

"Kiss of the Gypsy's self-titled debut album really fell through the cracks back in 1991, which is a shame since it is such a good album. I imagine the band was written off as just another hair metal band, but in truth they didn't quite fit that particular mold. Kiss of the Gypsy straddled the line between hair metal and AOR, much like Bad English, Giant, and Nelson managed to do. Kiss of the Gypsy had a bit less gloss and a lot more swagger though, so perhaps Von Groove is a closer comparison. Either way, what you get is an outstanding melodic rock album that struts its way from start to finish. It's one of those albums that puts a grin on your face and has you bobbing your head before you know it.



Forget pretentiousness and seriousness, this is an album for those of you who want your rock & roll to be fun!
