CD ReviewsJoin the Kix Fan Club! Jesse Trent | Chesterton, IN | 06/17/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "In the mid to late 80's, you couldn't pick up a Hit Parader or Circus magazine without seeing an ad prompting you to join the Kix fan club. I always used to ask my friends if they had heard the band. No one had. So about a year and a half after I saw the ad for the first time, and seeing the record in a small German record store for DM 8 (around $2), I picked it up. This is not really metal, more or less rock in the same vein as say, the first three Cheap Trick albums. Some songs are really bouncy ("The Itch" has this cool groove and then has this kinda goofy chorus, but it really couldn't work any other way). The lyrics are pretty great. Mostly it's songs about women, more or less in a story-telling style. "Yeah Yeah Yeah" has a break in the middle where he tells a story about being with a girl who throws up on him - twice. But overall, I recommend you join the Kix fan club TODAY! Or at least get this classic 80's rock album." Underrated band of the '80s Bluezeraxman | Camp Hill, PA USA | 03/26/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Being from Harriburg, PA, I heard a lot of KIX in the early 1980s. KIX was from Maryland, but played the southcentral PA region quite a bit and local radio was very supportive. I had KIX's first album on vinyl and cassette. I wore both out. I bought another cassette and took it to college with me in 1983. I fraternity brother got ahold of it and wouldn't give it back after we graduated! I am now purchasing the KIX CD and never giving it up. I may not listen to it 10 hours a day like I did when I was 17, but it's a nostalgic album for me and I must have it in my collection. If you are a fan of good, hard-driving, rock/pop, you will enjoy this album. I've got to think that if KIX had put out this album in 1984-85, MTV would have had several videos in constant rotation. This band was as good as the other '80s rock bands, if not better. Althought he band broke up several years ago, I still hold out some hope for a reunion! KIX are for kids......even the 36 year old variety!" Kix..either you got it or you didn't.. Eradio | Montgomery, AL | 05/30/2006 (4 out of 5 stars) "I know that's not very profound, but it's truthful. Kix was a huge presence in the Mid Atlantic music scene in the 80's. Their live shows were always great. It was more an event then just another show. And its very true that Posion studied them and headed west. Yes Kix is heavily influenced by early AC/DC, but they had that New Wave/Punk flavor that made it their own. They were/are considered Hair Metal, but if you listen back to them now, you will hear a modern rock edge.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah live was an anthem. It was a must to know it word for word..I still do!! "go outside and do that!!" If you grew up in the 80's and ever made it to Hammerjacks or the Bayou, you knew and loved Kix!" |
