Synopsis

Album Description
Not to be confused with the late '70s band that gave us 'My Sharona', this band are best remembered today as the band Paul Gurvitz was in before he formed Hard Rock trio Gun. However, The Knack's music is much more deserving than that simple footnote. First time on CD and produced with the full involvement of Paul Gurvitz himself! Features all six Knack singles plus the impossibly rare Londoners single released on the Star Club label! Expanded with two unreleased tracks and features brand new liner notes by Stefan Granados and tons of fab memorabilia courtesy of the band! Rev-Ola. 2007.

CD Reviews

Disappointing...............

(3 out of 5 stars)

"(This is UK Knack, not to be confused with the band which sang "My Sharona"). A disappointment, I'm afraid. The Knack were an early Paul Gurvitz incarnation; Paul later appeared with Gun ("Race With the Devil") and then Baker Gurvitz Army (with Ginger Baker). The first few songs include an unnecessary cover of the Kink's "Who'll Be the Next in Line" and a couple of other average tunes. Things perk up in the middle with "Time Time Time" and some of the other better songs, but even these are clouded by more unnecessary covers, of two Lovin' Spoonful hits. Interestingly some of the best songs (like "Red Hearts") are by unknown composers. The set ends with three covers of pop hits which were recorded during the band's early days, and these are really well done. But, alas, they are covers and not an example of how well this band may have stood on its own."
