Disappointing...............

"(This is UK Knack, not to be confused with the band which sang "My Sharona"). A disappointment, I'm afraid. The Knack were an early Paul Gurvitz incarnation; Paul later appeared with Gun ("Race With the Devil") and then Baker Gurvitz Army (with Ginger Baker). The first few songs include an unnecessary cover of the Kink's "Who'll Be the Next in Line" and a couple of other average tunes. Things perk up in the middle with "Time Time Time" and some of the other better songs, but even these are clouded by more unnecessary covers, of two Lovin' Spoonful hits. Interestingly some of the best songs (like "Red Hearts") are by unknown composers. The set ends with three covers of pop hits which were recorded during the band's early days, and these are really well done. But, alas, they are covers and not an example of how well this band may have stood on its own."
