"Many buyers are looking for the full orchestral version of the Dragon Quest VIII soundtrack and buy the midi version instead. For you guys, this is the real original soundtrack the Koichi Sugiyama composed for Dragon Quest VIII with all the songs although many are compiled into one track.
Koichi Sugiyama is not unknown to gamers as he did all the Dragon Quests, their respected symphonic suites and even Patlabor. While I am a fan of the traditional masters of instrumental music, Koichi Sugiyama has proven to be a master of our time ranking up there with Nobou Uematsu, James Horner and even John Williams. The music makes you really feel like you're in a world unlike our own with magical beings and wonders.
It's use of all instruments, particularly the use of brass since many games get the brass screwed up, blend exceptionally well together to become one of my favorite soundtracks next to Total Annihilation (don't diss it till you've heard it) and Final Fantasy IV: Celtic. Even in the -40 frigid cold of North Dakota I like to listen to this music as it makes the environment THAT much more bearable not to mention goes very well with the snowy atmosphere.
Again, for compression and consistency they combine several songs into one track such as the world theme and the same one where you're riding the tiger. This may seem odd but the transitions are very smooth and go extremely well.
The only downside is the price... yikes. But to me, it was well worth it and I'd do it again."
