The Best Metal Album of the 90's!!!!!
R. Bisson | Boston, MA, USA | 03/18/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"KoRn's S/T album is without a doubt a masterpeice metal album. It created the subgenre of Nu-Metal, and the musicianship, lyrics, vocals, and energy are all as good as it gets. First of all, Jonathan Davis is one of the most original vocalists of all-time and he has an incredible voice! Fieldy is one hell of a bassist and his bass is forefront in all the tracks, very original and cool style. David Silveria's drumming is the best of all KoRn's albums by far, he pounds the $hit out of the drums with great style and incredible fills all the way through. Head and Munky are one of the coolest guitar duos I have ever heard, they play downtuned guitars, but with a tremendously original flair, and they play HEAVY. Blind is one of the greatest opening tracks you will ever likely hear, the song builds and builds in the intro with each member playing their own solo part, and then explodes. It is one of the greatest songs live by KoRn also because of that, and Jonathans voice is top notch on this one. Ball Tongue is headbanging heaven with awesome riffs and tremendous bass and drums. Need To is KoRn's first song that they ever recorded (I'm almost positive) and it is extremely heavy, but yet very melodic. Clown is one of KoRn's most famous songs with the funny intro and then an incredible angst filled song about Jonathan being picked on by phony bullies in school. Divine is the fist pumping energy track with the best breakdown on the album possibly it goes something like this, "Fu** you, Im fed up with you, Im not as good as you, fu** you Im better than you." Faget is another of the best on the album and is about Jonathan being told he was gay by everybody growing up, when he is 100% straight, and him being angry about it, this track also has more great aggro angst filled lyrics that you will love to sing along to. Shoots and Ladders is probably my favorite track on the album and is about children's nursery rhymes being evil, Jonthan recites a bunch of children's rhymes in the track and it builds and builds to an amazing crescendo. Predictable may be the least popular gem on the album, it is another one of my favorites and is one of the most melodic tracks on the album with some of the most mature lyrics on the album. Fake is a very cool slightly more mellow track with mellow verses and a very catchy chorus, I believe the song is again about phony people in Jonthan's past and present. Lies features incredible bass work by Fieldy (as the whole album does) and has one of my favorite choruses, "Do you ever step outside your fears, thinking about your life, thinking about your inner fears", very memorable track. Helmet in the Bush has a very funny intro with a Spanish man saying something very funny sounding, and then opens with very cool guitar work followed by cool noises and then Jonthan's creepily awesome voice. This song is about asking god to help him quit drugs (methamphetamine). Also, the title is supposedly about Jonthans di** shriveling up when high on meth and looking like a helmet in the bush, lol. The last song Daddy is no laughing matter, it is one of the most disturbing songs you will ever hear, actually it IS the most disturbing song you will ever hear. It is about Jonthan being molested (or raped) by a close neighbor and his parents not believing him and accusing him of lying about it. And NO his father is not the one who raped him, though the lyrics may make you think that. He has repeatdly said it was not a family member, but that he was so angry (understandedly so) that his parents didn't even believe him, and the rapist or molester was in fact a WOMAN not a man. Overall, this is the definitive Nu-Metal album, by far the best of all-time, and easily one of the best albums of the 90s. Buy all KoRn's albums, but definitely do not miss this one, you will not be dissapointed, trust me. You need this album! Rock on KoRn!"

"I got this album the day it hit store shelves and I've had to replace it twice already just from wear and tear. That's how much playtime it still gets almost 15 years later. My favorite band, my favorite album. Don't hesitate to buy this one."
