Mind-boggling

"I listened to this CD last week. It was about 11pm.And what a revelation! I was totally absorbed by the music. I stopped my desk work to listen to it. Though the pieces were recorded between 1938 to 1946, the power of the conductor makes you forget the less than perfect sonics. I liked the whole CD from Copland`s A.Spring to Sousa`s famous Stars and Stars March. The music comes alive through crisp rhythms and wonderful tension. Reminds you of Stokowski and Mengelberg. Highly recommended."
Great performance, poor sound

"This disc is made from old '78 discs and the sound is pretty poor. There are versions of most of these pieces on other discs which are just as good or better than the performances here. The exception is the Roy Harris Symphony No. 1. A Louisville Orchestra recording has been made available, but, even considering the poor sound, this is better by far. For Harris fanatics, like me, it is a must."
