"We are so lucky to have this particular performance by Kraan captured on a high-quality CD. The recording is excellent, and the band has never played better. Very hot, very tight. They sound like they are grinning when they play. Material covers mainly their first and third studio albums.I recommend this 70 minute recording as an introduction to the band. The new remastered recording is awesome -- I can hear things I never heard on the LPs.Kraan is a mix of rock and jazz, influenced by some middle-eastern melodies here and there. The style is unique; it doesn't sound dated. What makes them great is how well they play off each other. This album is mostly sung in English.Hattler is one of the fastest bass players I've ever heard, and has had a great career with Kraan, on solos, and guesting on other peoples' albums.As I write in 2001, Kraan is touring again, after a few years apart and reuniting in 2000. Kraan - An Amazing Live Album

"Kraan are a band that I had never heard of prior to seeing them at ProgDay a few years ago. Turns out they have been around since the early 70's and have been a mainstay of the German progressive rock scene since that time. The band was incredible live and I have since had the chance to see them a second time. "Kraan Live" was their first live album released in 1975 and really shows off what this band was all about. They had put out 3 studio albums by this time, but in a live setting the band really cooked. The performances on this album are stellar and many Kraan fans consider this their finest work. Kraan's music is a mix of rock, progressive rock, and jazz. All of the musicians are first rate, with bassist Helmet Hattler particularly standing out. The vocals are all in English and although nothing spectacular are at least passable. Instrumentally is where these guys really get to show off, and several of the track feature long jams. "Nam Nam", "Kraan Arabia", and "Holiday Am Matterhorn" all clock in at over 12 minutes. Every track on this disc is great as this recording really seems to have captured the band at their peak. If you have never discovered Kraan this would be a great introduction."

"Yes, music fan from Boston is quite right.

After recording 3 adventurous and unique studio albums, they made the great move, to do a live record.This is where these guys show what high calibre musicians they really are.This is serious quirky kraut jazz rock.Stellar tracks that sound 10 times better than on the studio .If you are in a rut finding some new music for yourself, this could very well be what you are looking for.This recording is from 1975 and has not dated at all.Sorry ,this is not comparable to anything else I know.Well, I am actually not sorry at all.
