Can't start giving you up
Rising Star | Crossroads, TX | 05/16/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Ultimate Kylie album had spinned off 2 singles. I Believe In You (2004) & the latest and surely Giving You Up (2005). This single includes 3 remixes and a B-Side "Made of Glass" (which would of been a perfect single). In my opinion, I recommend the Giving You Up single over I Believe In You. Here's my review below:

1.) Giving You Up (Album/Single Version) (5/5) 3:31 - This is the original song recorded on the Ultimate Kylie Disc 2. The lyrics are strong an sensual and her vocals are lustful and sexy. This song is a retro 80s, pop floorfiller. The lyrics "What you want is what you don't know/turn me on and watch your ego." Beautifully recorded and well done.

2.) Giving You Up (Alter Ego Remix) (5/5) 8:02 - The best remix on the single. It has techno/house/and Hi-NRG all in one song. The vocals are present, faster and sound more "clearer" and is definitely a dancefloor to the radio friendly Friday night mix.

3.) Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Vox) (4/5) 6:32 - This remix is very unusual. It lifts up to it's name with the rubbish techno-rave beats and re-rubbed vocals. This song stays to the original but more so like an "extended mix" to the album version. The vocals are "dubbish" which hence the name "Re-Rub Vox". Not as versitle and likeable as the "Alter Ego Remix" but is an alternative.

4.) Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Dub) (3/5) 6:32 - Simply an instrumental track to the Riton Re-Rub Vox, but with lesser vocals. The beat and content of the song is still the same.

5.) Made Of Glass (B-Side) (5/5) 3:13 - This track was recorded during the Ultimate Kylie sessions, but decided not to release the song on her compliation. Some of Kylie's fans are disappointed because it should of been released as a single of it's own. This is the best song of the single because of it's heart felt lyrics and it's "unexplained" beat. It's definitely pop, and is more maturely written. The vocals are at her stronges on her, even though her vocals drag. The track has lyrics like "Love makes the world go round/I hold it in my hands/but it slips away/and I watch it fade." This song can be read in different ways. That's what makes this song Made of Glass. It's defintely a treasure.

This single is more versitle than the "I Believe In You". The only downfall to the new singles are the remixes. Her most noticeable remixes like "Slow (Chemical Brothers Remix) and "Love At First Sight (The Beauty & The Best Vocal Mix)" are definitely not fulfilled here. I give this single 5 stars =)"
