Synopsis
Album Description Kym Tuvim has "a huge voice, one that fills rooms and gets compared to Tracy Chapman, if only because it pulls you in the instant you hear it," writes Charles R. Cross, noted music writer and Editor of Seattle's music & entertainment magazine, The Rocket. With her self-titled debut, Tuvim's acoustic-based pop highlights not only her striking voice, but also her knack for blending rhythmic grooves and lush instrumental textures. The result: songs which are as much about the musical vibe as they are about the stories being told. Featuring a top-notch ensemble including Michael Manring on bass (Michael Hedges, John Gorka) and Julie Wolf on accordion (Ani DiFranco, Laura Love), Tuvim's album was cited as a "Top 12 D.I.Y." by The Performing Songwriter Magazine in 1998. And, while it's certainly an indie-project, out on Cake Records - an independent cooperative label based in Seattle, "it's no farm team production," affirms Cross. "[Tuvim's album] sounds as good as any AAA record from a major." Similarly Requested CDs
