"L7 are an underrated band out of the Northwest "Riot Girl" punk rock scene. In fact they are actually one of the original bands that started the whole "Riot Girl" movement. If you're not familiar with the label "Riot Girl", it basically means chicks who rock, are loud and play aggressive punk rock music with shocking lyrics (The band is best remembered for throwing a dirty tampon into the crowd while performing at a festival). This album is filled with big, grinding, menacing guitar riffs (LOUD), catchy yet shocking lyrics (most with feminine concerns) and screaming vocals on all tracks.
There's nothing original here, just eleven tracks of take no prisoners, in-your-face, grooving, female punk rock. No, there's nothing "pretty" about riot girl bands and that makes them a category of their own. My favorite track on this album is "Pretend We're Dead" which is loud and raunchy but catchy in it's own way."
