"I eagerly anticipated this release because I liked the Symphony #1 and 2 coupling so good.This one isn't as good as the first one because of the very contrasting subject matter. Symphony #3 is a reworked wind quintet and wants to be jolly all the time. If I were the composer I'd rather call this a suite or a sinfonietta. The recording is a little dull, like the music.Everything goes well in the 4th Symphony which is altogether a more enterprising and interesting affair. It's not at all daring or new music, it fits nicely in the Central European tradition. But nothing is wrong with that and you can hear very many influences on this one.The recording is better and the conductor - although a very devoted Moyzes follower - makes things flow better and convinces the orchestra that it is a convincing piece of music."
