Great musicianship flows through the instrumentation, from grungy electric to melting acoustic guitar, seductive keyboards, elated flute, and burning tenor sax, as well as something deeper and more profound that comes with repeated listening. Laguna brings together vocalist Beth Hirsch and D*Note musician Matt Winn, whose pioneering acid jazz outfit bent the rules of many musical genres in the nineties, collaborating with everyone from Roni Size and A Guy Called Gerald to Masters at Work and American minimalist composer Steve Reich. D*Note scored many hits, including the ambient classic "D*Notion" featuring Dave Del Mar.
