"1995. a thursday night, listening to the Late nite metal show on the radio (R.I.P. Blue FM..) with half a dozen fellow metalheads. the song "raven land" kicks in, right after Hypocrisy's "Apocalypse", taking us offguard, with its enchanting, sad acoustic intro. we thought it was another doomish experiment from peter tagtgren and Co. but the dramatic vocals quickly told us it's another band. a band which has just gained 7 new fanatics to its exquisitely addictive style of doom metal. the song's chorus is timeless. i'm no guitar player but hey, i know how to play the acoustic intro to "ravenland" (as well as "smoke on the water" -lol!- but everybody can play THAT one!) !!!
i paid double the price for the CD in order to get it; extreme music/hard rock was banned in my country and the market for it was ,well, a black market. Bought the cd for "ravenland" alone but after listening to it i also fell for the majestic title track, "dreamdemons" "twilight" and the epic closer "path of the gods". the cd is about 40 minutes long but i'd rather have 40 minutes of excellent music than 75 minutes of filler (St Anger, anyone?). i've heard "greater art" "crimson cosmos" and "forever autumn", all excellent albums but only "forever autumn" comes close to the beauty of "headstones" without, however, surpassing it. i'm so glad the band is reformed and are planning a new album due somewhere during 2004. hails to them for coming back! we missed their music."
One of the best doom metal albums ever!

"This is Lake of Tears second album, and my personal favorite. This album has the underground doom feel of the first one, with a much more polished feel to it. The title track and the last track, Upon the Highest Mountain Part 2 are definitely the two best songs on the album, but there are other highlights in RavenLand and Sweet Water are great tracks. A must for fans of all metal. This is their best album to date."
A very `deep' record

"Headstones is the best of Lake of tears records , because it's a deeper meaning in the text and a better sound more àction'. Raven land and sweet water are the best songs on this album i think anyway. They are the greatest of all the swedish groups. They have their own sound and style. if you haven't heard them you should!!!"
