Who Is This?
David M. Roszelle | Omaha, NE | 02/15/2006
(1 out of 5 stars)

"I was a huge fan of Lamb in the '70's. I had their first 4 albums on 8-track tape (Lamb I, II & III & Songs For The Flock) and their Lamb Live album. I used to sit for hours and just get caught up in this gorgeous, worshipful music! Joel Chernoff's voice was just so smooth & velvety. And Rick's production was so perfect for the music; the accoustic guitars, the harmonizing vocals, etc. All with a touch of jewish nuances of sound. Some of the lyrics were in hebrew. I didn't know what they were singing, but I memorized every word & inflection. That's how much I loved this music! It was beautiful!! I saw them in concert here in Omaha, NE just before the release of Lamb III and was just transported to a heavenly plane of existence.

Well, time goes on. I drifted away. I lost track of my 8-tracks and forgot about Lamb and other christian groups I had listened to when I was a christian teenager. Every once in a while I would think about Lamb and wished I still had that music to listen to in a nostalgic kind of way....

Fast forward twenty years. I was walking in the mall and was passing a christian bookstore and, on a whim, decided to see if they carried anything by Lamb on CD. I was thrilled to find that I could special order something called Lamb Trilogy. They didn't have any information on it, but I was sure it was their first 3 albums on 2 CDS, so I ordered it. And it was! I could once again go to that special, unique place that was Lamb music! (Even though you could tell the recording was made from the vinyl versions of the albums--clicks & pops, the works.) That was all that was available, though. Ten or so MORE years go by. I'm online now, so I decide to see if they have any of their other releases available. I am thrilled, once again, to see several later releases that I had never heard of. I can't wait! I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of "Seer" in the mail. I am setting aside a special time to just sit in the dark, eyes closed, and listen and be transported to that special place again.

About two tracks in I'm thinking, "Who the hell is this?" This is not the Lamb I know. The voice is even different. So different I go to the insert to check the names of the artists. The names were the same, Joel & Rick, but the music and that awesome voice (or maybe just the way that voice was used) were completely different--in a bad way! These people sounded like they were trying to be pop-rock stars. Gone was that heavenly, worshipful sound so full of feeling and praise. This music and singing had NO feeling to it. The jewish influences and hebrew lyrics were nowhere to be found. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I won't be buying any of the other later releases I saw listed. I am truly sorry. I mean, c'mon guys. What happened to you? At one time you had the ability to make people feel the love deep down in their hearts and souls. You could make people's spirits soar and weep with the beauty of it at the same time. What happened? It's so sad. So sad.

I would still highly recommend the Lamb Trilogy to anyone. And I would gladly buy Songs For The Flock and Lamb Live again (if those two ever become available on CD). It saddens me to have to give Seer such a bad review, but, compared to their early work, this album is, well...nothing."
Don't give up on Lamb

"I happen to love Seer, and all the music Lamb and Joel Chernoff have produced. The message is always powerful and filled with hope for Israel's restoration. The new albums put out under Joel Chernoff's name are amazing worship...as well as the newest Lamb offering, The Sacrifice. For those of you who found Seer too upbeat, please take a listen to these...they are the Lamb you love!! I'm not sure if they available here on Amazon, you may have to find them on Lamb's website."
Still as Fantastic and Messianic as always
Papetti | Mexico City | 06/07/2006

"This effort by superb Messianic group Lamb is a fantastic one.

The typical hebrew rhythms and annointed lyrics are here; perhaps more modernized than some people want to, but it's a universal law (renew or die).

Yes, they've changed more the use of electric guitar instead of acoustic guitar, and electric drums rather than regular drums, but the essence is the same and that's what really counts; they still are the same Joel Chernoff and Rick (Levi) Coghill; just listen to the songs: Messiah's Prayer and Come let us Celebrate and then you tell me...........

I have all the 70's and 80's Lamb CDs and albums and I love this one just as much.........."
