"Their version of One O'Clock Jump is one of the most inventive and intricate jazz vocals I have ever heard.During the crescendo Yoland Bavan's voice has the clearest trumpet sound I have heard from a human. Cloudburst and Gimme That Wine are my favorite renditions of all the recordings of these songs that Lambert Hendricks and Bavan,or Ross recorded."
Warning: This album will make you very happy!

"I grew up listening to great jazz recordings, and I was around 4 or 5 when my dad introduced me to this one. My favorite was and is "Watermelon Man," particularly the saucy vocals by Y. Bavan. I thought the words were "What a Mellow Man" for years. Clark Terry's performance is an added bonus to an already-tasty recording."

"I have loved this recording since my first copy on vinyl, back in the 60's. As it turns out, I was in the audience the night it was recorded. Clark Terry's trumpet playing on these tracks is inspirational. His trumpet laughs and dances through these tunes. Lambert, Hendricks & Bavan are in top form, also. This live performance never fails to bring a smile to my face. I recommend it highly!"
