"This CD doesn't include texts (unusual for Naxos, despite the bargain price). This isn't a major problem as anyone can download the whole text of Lamentations from any of the several sites offering the Vulgate on the Web, but you will still need patience and a quick ear to work out which track corresponds to which set of verses.Track [2] Tallis, corresponds to the following for example 1:1 ALEPH quomodo sedit sola civitas plena populo facta est quasi vidua domina gentium princeps provinciarum facta est sub tributo 1:2 BETH plorans ploravit in nocte et lacrimae eius in maxillis eius non est qui consoletur eam ex omnibus caris eius omnes amici eius spreverunt eam et facti sunt ei inimiciTrack [3] 1:3 GIMEL migravit Iuda propter adflictionem et multitudinem servitutis habitavit inter gentes nec invenit requiem omnes persecutores eius adprehenderunt eam inter angustias 1:4 DELETH viae Sion lugent eo quod non sint qui veniant ad sollemnitatem omnes portae eius destructae sacerdotes eius gementes virgines eius squalidae et ipsa oppressa amaritudineThe best versions of the Lamentations are probably Hilliard Ensemble on ECM for Tallis, Tallis Scholars for White, Herreweghe for Lassus."

"This CD earned a rosette from the Penguin guide, and deservedly so. The sound quality, as usual for a Naxos release, is perfect, and the performances are wonderful.
My only complaint, and I guess it could definitely be a big minus for many, is the lack of text and limited notes.
Of course, Naxos is a budget label and it's assumed that liner notes and texts will be limited to keep down costs. Just keep this in mind when purchasing."
